The Benefits Project Specialist is responsible for the review and
analysis of Employee Benefits administrative processes and systems in
support of end-to-end benefit plan operations. This individual
maintains familiarity with Prudential demographic and financial data
used by internal and vendor systems in administration of Employee
Benefits plans and uses this knowledge in supporting Benefits Department
strategic initiatives. The incumbent maintains functional knowledge of
vendor systems, vendor data structures, and vendor data flows in
processing of Prudential data.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Participates in Employee Benefits projects and systems process
initiatives including, but not limited to, Annual Enrollment, Annual
Redetermination of Earnings for sales employees, PeopleSoft
enhancements, systems upgrades, human resources innovations,
acquisitions and divestitures.
- Writes requirements to identify and document business needs, prepares
requests for routine reporting needs and/or enhancements to systems, in
support of Company objectives and standards, and for compliance with
federal and/or state regulations (e.g., 5500 filing requirements).
- Participates in systems pilots and implementations of new products, new
vendors, and other initiatives. Participates in testing processes for
new systems implementations and enhancements. This includes writing and
executing user acceptance testing scripts.
- Documents systems problems and/or issues impacting benefits
administration. Recommends steps that may be taken to resolve issues.
- Reviews routine data reports for Employee Benefits administration,
notes any outstanding issues, and documents findings for Employee
Benefits management.
- Maintains contacts with operations personnel for internal and vendor
systems regarding day-to-day operations and resolution of any
operational problems and issues.
- Supports financial, audit, compliance, vendor governance, and
operational uses of Employee Benefits data by Employee Benefits
department and external reviewers.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years of Benefits Administration experience in a large organization
- 5+ years in project management and software development life cycle
concepts
- Strong operational knowledge and solid experience in conducting user
acceptance testing
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience
in writing business/functional requirements
- Strong partnering skills
- Working knowledge of HR applications such as PeopleSoft preferred
- Bachelor's degree required
