The Director, Employee Benefits (Health & Welfare) is responsible for
day-to-day management, pricing, measurement, communication and
compliance of innovative benefits programs for active employees,
retirees and LTDs. Products include all health & welfare programs, with
a specific focus on life and accident insurance, disability, FMLA,
workers' compensation and long term care.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Taking the lead on implementation of new products, new vendors, and
other initiatives. Includes:
- Acting as plan expert for design and implementation discussions
- Overseeing communications roll-out
- Developing new initiatives for quality and process improvement with
the vendors for their products
- Developing performance measurements and tracking performance
- Overseeing the annual renewal process, which includes pricing
discussions and contribution strategy
- Participating in vendor management activities, which includes:
- Participating in regularly scheduled meetings and conference calls
- Providing feedback to vendors, both informally (in
discussions/e-mails) and formally
- Evaluating vendor performance via the monitoring of quarterly metrics
- Maintaining contracts and plan documents. This includes working with
outside counsel to amend or re-state the Welfare and Flexible Benefits
Plans
- Handling day-to-day compliance requirements for the programs
- Developing communications to comply with federal and/or state
regulations for employee/HRC education
- Acting as a consultant to the Benefits Call Center
- Being a member of the Health & Welfare Appeals Committee
- Ownership and oversight over the Paid Time Off/Attendance Tracking
system.
- Supporting Merger & Acquisition activity, includes up-front analysis
and preparation as well as presentations to affected employees
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of Benefits experience in a large organization
- Strong strategic partnering skills
- Excellent project management skills
- Strong written communication skills
- Bachelor's degree required
